The Amateur Radio club was started at HLC in 1979 after two members of staff, Richard Horton G3XWH and David Andrews G4CWB, had put on a 24 hour special exhibition station over the school open day. Classes for pupils to take Amateur Radio examinations began in the following year and the 24 hour station became an annual event.
Here are exmples of the QSL cards we sent out over the years that GB2HC, our special event callsign, was in use up until 2012.
The text was written in 2007 and by the time the club closed in 2012, over 200 of the girls had obtained their Amateur Radio licences and call signs.
